WALLS

Standard:

·      Quality redwood pine shiplap boarding ex 19mm thick (16mm thick finished size).

·      Sturdy timber framework, Mainly 75mm x 50mm (3in. x 2in.) planed.

·      Height to eaves 7ft. (2.14m)

·      All fixings and exterior fittings galvanized or zinc coated to resist rusting.

 

Optional:

Extra height, 7ft.6in.. or 8ft. to eaves.

Weatherboard cladding.

 

ROOF

Standard

·      ‘Tuff tile’ tile or slate effect roof for an excellent tile or slate appearance.

 

Optional

·      Tiled or slate roof. We can supply your garage with roof trusses every 2ft. (600mm) with 30 degree pitch  with bargeboards, fascias and soffit ready for your builder to felt, battern and tile or slate.

·      Cedar shingle roof. We can construct your garage with a 30 degree exterior grade plywood roof and supply you with cedar shingles for you or your builder to fix.

 

DOORS

Standard:

·      Main doors 7ft.4in. wide (2.3m approx.) constructed with tongued and grooved V jointed boarding framed, ledged and braced with 3in. x 2in. and 2in. x 2in. timber.

·      Zinc coated  hinges and padbolt, with internal foot operated bolt for left hand door for easy opening.

 

Optional:

·      Up-and-over doors in a range of sizes and designs including timber.

·      Personal door in any position fitted with a padbolt or mortice lock.

 

TIMBER TREATMENT

Standard:

·      Fully treated inside and out with a choice of Chestnut Brown or Golden Brown wood preservative.

 

Optional:

·      A coat of Sadolins woodstain externally over base treatment in a choice of colours for longer lasting joinery protection

Our timber garages are craftsman built using the natural beauty of wood to blend into any surroundings. Your garage can be built to incorporate a selection of styles of doors, windows, roof constructions and  colour finishes to suit your property.

Drier and warmer

Timber is by nature drier and warmer than the concrete alternative. The timber will tend to soak up any excess moisture in the air, providing a drier atmosphere.

Versatile

A timber garage from Greens of Mepal will provide a versatile building for our car or other uses such as a workshop, games room, storage building etc.. It can easily be dismantled and re-erected and shelves or lining can easily be added. Almost any size or specification of building can be manufactured to your requirements.

Long lasting

Our garages are designed to last a lifetime with minimal maintenance. Simply treat the timber every 2 to 3 years with Sadolins or similar wood preservative.

PLANNING PERMISSION

 As a general rule it is not necessary to apply for planning permission if the proposed garage does not project beyond any wall of the house which faces a road and is no nearer than 1 metre to the boundary. If the garage is within 5 metres of the house you may

need permission. Planning permission will always be required if you live in a conservation area.

This information is only a general guide and you should check with your local authority planning department for further advice. If permission is required we will supply drawings of the garage free of charge.

BUILDING REGULATIONS

Building regulation approval affecting the construction of the garage is usually only required if the garage is erected within 1 metre of your boundary or if the internal floor area is greater than 30 square metres. All of the standard garages on our price list are below this size.

DISPLAY GARAGES

We have three timber garages on display at our show-site in Mepal. We have a 28ft. x 10ft. (8.4m x 3.0m) single Classic Range model garage with optional timber up-and-over door, red Tufftile roof..

We also have a 16ft. x 9ft. Craftsman model with optional personal door and a 20ft. x 17ft. (6.0m x 5.1m) double Craftsman garage with optional georgian up-and-over doors.
